 UVB Light

Hi All! My mother has a friend of hers that just recently shut down his pet store. She told him about all the reptiles I have over here, and he gave her some lights, and a couple of other things that he said didn’t get sold in the going out of business sale. I just wanted some opinions on the UVB lights that I got before I use them on my beardies. The fact that no one bought it makes me kinda nervous. It makes me think they know something I don’t. It says Lumichrome 1xx, Full spectrum plus. Then it says "Closely simulates Natural sunlight". "Emits beneficial UV in the 290 to 400 nanometer range (UVA + UVB), for pets improved health and well being. 10% at 310 NM (UVB) and 50% at360 NM (UVA). Is this okay? Has anyone ever even heard of this brand before? Any opinions would be helpful. I just want to make sure they’re getting enough UVB. Thanks.

I have never heard of that. The only UVB lights that put off enough are fluorescents UVB’s and Mercury Vapor Bulbs. The others just put off a small amount as far as I know.

is it possible that you have aquarium lights for fish and plants?
if so its not enough for your beardies.i would compare the numbers to a well known uv light source such as reptisun or T-rex,i believe you will find that the numbers on your bulbs are quite lower.

Hey thanks for your responses. On the box, it says for plants, fish and reptiles, so I guess your right. My mom called the guy after I bombarded her with questions about the lights, and he said they only use to sell for about seven dollars, and he never really did sell alot of them, so I pretty much figured they were useless. I guess you get what you pay for. I haven’t had the chance to compare it to any other lights because I usually order mine off the internet and I of course I threw the box away(who would’ve thought?) LOL. I figure I’ll just save them just in case I’m desperate, or maybe if I get some fish. Thanks for the advice.
