Baby dragon
okay i had one remaining egg left that had not hatched yet and the the day before yesterday liquid in the egg came out so i thought the lizard was about to hatch. nothing happened for a day and a half and today i cut the egg open to find a baby dragon in the egg w/ its sack still aatached to its stomach? is there any thing i can do at all? i have the baby still incubating in the incubator and thats all i really could do this is really heartbreaking for me to see a baby lizard like that so if someone could please help me out it would be great thanks.

what a bummer. i’m not a pro, but no one else has answered yet thought i’d make a suggestion. i would try not to open incubator very often to cut down chance of any organism getting in since it’s first line of defense is gone, but definetly would keep the substrate you have it in moist not directly on the embryo but around it. just keep it in the incubator and hope for the best if i’m not mistaken i beleive i read somewhere that this highly lessens their chances.:( good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Yes, you shouldn’t cut the egg. I have never read of anyone being successful with cutting an egg or helping a baby out.

Well I guess all you can do is watch and wait. Sometimes they look dead because they sleep so deep. If it does make it I would keep it by itself because if it is weaker than the others it may get picked on. Let us know what happens.

I can tell you from my own experience. We had 1 egg out of a 21 clutch that didn’t hatch on time. 5 days later still no hatchling. We candled it & could see it was still alive, gave it a couple more days & still it didn’t hatch...so we opened the egg & incubated it even longer. Eventually we pulled it out of egg & continued to incubate. To make a long story short, it died 7 weeks later. We got it pretty much to complete health, but it never really had the strength. I wonder now if it would have been stronger if we didn’t mess with it & let it hatch on it’s own time. According to the books, if the hatchling doesn’t break the egg 10 days after the others to break it for them. I know that this really doesn’t help. I think eventually every breader goes through this and all you can do is do your best through trial & error.
