Mess with eggs?
After female lays eggs in moist soil, how long should you leave the eggs buried before you put them in the incubator? Oh and one of my females finished laying yesterday and she had some red thing hanging out of her and it looked liked she was trying to lay it. What the heck is it?

Mess with eggs? Once your female lays her eggs, you should immediately remove the eggs. Its not a serious issue, but you should remove them at least 24 hours after they were laid. This will prevent the chance of embryo possibly drowning, because after the eggs are laid, the embryo will begin to attach itself to a spot of the egg, and if you are removing them from the nest while they are doing this, you can interfere and cause the egg some minor problems to fatal problems. Thats why you aren’t supposed to turn or jar them after placed in the incubator. The developing baby will shoot veins all around the egg, and after about a week or so, you can candle them and see this occuring. This is obviously a sure sign of fertility. And that red "thing" that you see coming out of the female, is an organ. I forgot the exact name of it, but that is basically a tubular organ that transports the eggs out of the lizard. Good luck. Remember not to turn or jar the eggs.

Mess with eggs? I agree with above, I try to get to mine as soon as she’s done burrying them (I’ve got a couple girls that are so used to it they don’t even bother to burry anymore). The red thing hanging out could be an inverted clitoris or minor prolapse, they push so hard while laying that either could have popped out on ya. As long as it went back in when she was done it’s fine. Sean

Mess with eggs? The red thing is a prolapsed egg laying organ, not sure the anatomical term for it but you can gently push it in with gloved hands. You may have to use some KY jelly to help get it back in. Was this her first batch of eggs? Good luck...

Mess with eggs? This was both their first clutch, I had two dragons that laid during the same week. One dragon had an infertile clutch and the eggs just collapsed, the other actually laid a few that are looking fertile!
