General breeding enquiry
I understand breeding can be full time job etc and have done a lot of research into it. Their light is set on photoperiod settings, less light in winter that summer etc gradually changing but some books say they need a temperature drop from december to january and some say they will breed without this, can anyone advise as i am worried about them getting too cold if i reduce temps. here is a pic of my babies!
any advise please? |

They can and will breed at any time. In fact, they can breed as early as 5 months old. That is why it is recommended that you house them separately. You don’t want your girl to become gravid before she is 18 months old. At 18 months will be an adult and her bones will have stopped growing. If she becomes gravid before that time, she will place the calcium intended for her little body into shelling the eggs, therefore causing deficinecies that could truly harm her. So that she doesn’t have any problems with the laying, make sure she is at least 350 grams. Enough weight/strength to lay 20 to 30 eggs once a month for a few months. Edel |

They have been living together since july, the guy in the shop said they will live hapily together, in fact put them together in the same cage in shop too see if they would get along. I am not sure her exact age as I got her from a friend but the shop reconed 9 month in july just gone. Should I separate them until she is 18 month? |
