I rescued a dragon with Metabolic Bone....

The animal shelter rescued a male beardy from a house where the owner moved out and left him to die. Well I baught him from the store and he is so deformed from metabolic bone disease. He walks on his wrists that are bent in and his back hips are also deformed. He is the cutest little guy. I took him to the vet to get all these check ups done and we had to treat him for a bunch of parasites.
He is so scared of people and he hides all the time, it’s really sad. We had a female in with him but he would just hide in the corner so we got him a nice place by himself but he still hides all the time.
Has anyone ever experienced this and know how to get him to relax. I think he’s permanently scared which I don’t blame him. He also is not getting any bigger, staying at about a 6-7 month size range. He doesn’t eat really well well but we give him lots of vegetables in case he is hungry.
Maybe I’m just over protective, I just hate the person that did this to him and want him to be comfortable... Vet says he doesn’t think he’s in pain but I don’t know...
Anyone who has any tips let me know
Bre

It’s good that you separated them, unfortunately any parasites he’s got she probably does also now so she’ll more than likely need meds also. The meds (I’m assuming Albon and/or Panacure) have some nasty side effects of their own, dehydration, lack of appetite, lethargy, etc. Giving him some pedialite with an eye dropper will help a bit but mainly he’s just going to have to suffer through the treatments. I wouldn’t push holding him or taming him down until he’s feeling better, it’s probably just that he doesn’t feel good and is grumpy.
