HELP!!eggs are pinkish with white snowflake looking spots on them
| This is my first time incubating eggs, i have the temp at 85 in the incubator, eggs are covered in a tupperware container full of moist vermiculite, but they are not all white , and one has a small spot of mold on it, what do i do, and is this a normal color for them? |

| Well since no one else has responded I’ll give you my opinion. It sounds like the female may have not had enough calcium to give the eggs thick shells. When they mold (if not rotten) all you can really do is wait, sometimes they will hatch, sometimes not. I had some mold and I gently wiped them off with paper towels and put them in fresh pearlite, but they were farther along so it wouldn’t be to stressful to move them. I don’t know what willhappen with mine yet, I’m just waiting, I just did what someone a lot of experience breeding told me to do. |

The egs should be white when hatched and as they grow bigger, they can appear transluscent and you will see veins in them. I agree with blue eyes that it sounds as if the female did not have enough calcium when she laid her eggs. Make sure you feed her up with plenty of greens and calcium supplements before she mates again. The mould may be due to the vermiculite or that the eggs are rotton. Give it time and see what happens - if they have died, they will go yellowish and mouldy. Good luck!! |
