How do I no if they actually mated?

ok my last post i thought they were fighting but I looked up breeding alot and breeding 101 really helped me understand that they were actually trying to mate. She did some waving and they both did some bobbing and he did pin her but now they are on opposite sides of the tank and he’s still puffed up and black. How do I no if they’ve breeded and should they be seperated now?

Hi,

If you didn’t actually see it, then you really won’t know until she lays eggs for you....or doesn’t. Most breeders will leave the female in the male’s tank for up to a week. Separate her for a week and then introduce her again for another week. Do make sure you watch them carefully and separate them at any sign of aggression.
