Egg cleaning whats the easiest way to clan your eggs?? iv seen pics that peoples eggs in the container are pure white... Mine are burried and when i take them out they are black from the dirt... i clean them the best i can but can never get them spotless... is there a way to clean them or do you use something different than dirt/sand for her to lay in????

Egg cleaning
I don’t really have that problem because I use perlite but my friend uses dirt and we clean his eggs before incubation. We use a soft bristle tooth brush and some luke warm water, you don’t want to push really hard or use a stiff brush because you can puncture the egg. I hope this helps.Tony

Egg cleaning Ok terdstick wouldnt worry so much if there a little dirty but if there very dirty it may not be to good for the pores also u handling them cleaning them most likely already clogged up the pores, clogging up the pores makes it hard for the embryo to breath. You should always handle the eggs with gloves. And try not to handle them 2 much And may i ask why you bury your eggs? They should only be half way buried You could also use vermiculate it holds its shape a lot better than dirt bc its a lot lighter when wet.

Egg cleaning thanx for the info... i dont bury the eggs... the female does when she lays them.. i just uncover them and they have dirt on them.... so your saying instead of useing dirt and sand. that i should use vermiculite/ or perlite for her to dig and lay in??? does that hold as good??? i thought perlite was those little styrophome ball things to brewak up dirt and let the water in???

Egg cleaning Use vermiculite. Perlite is like pebbles it wont hold. Vermiculite holds shape and moisture the best so i would use that if i were you.

Egg cleaning
Perlite is actually volcanic rock. I use the Vermiculite in the lay box and them incubate in perlite. I agree with the glove thing as well I don’t know why I skipped that but you can get latex gloves at Walmart cheap they are a good investment.Tony
