Unsure if she is gravid or not

I just got our beardie about four weeks ago. first of all they thought she was a he after taking her to the vet for her first check up they said he was a she go figure. she had been acting strange the last few days basking with her mouth open and digging in her terrarium for endless hours then opening her mouth. she looks bloated and her appetite is not regular? is she gravid and what should I do

Look and feel for lumps in her belly. You can’t always see them or feel them though, especially if she is a fatty, so you might want to give her a lay box and just see what happens.

knowing how old your beardie is would help. was she with a male before you got her? but an unusual appetite is common sometimes before beardies lay eggs. however the endless digging is definately sign that she could be ready to lay eggs. If I were you i’d put a shoe box or something similar in her enclosure with a hole in the top just big enough for your lizard to fit in, and fill most of the shoebox with moist vermiculite. when shes ready to lay eggs she’ll go inside the box and dig out the vermiculite and lay her eggs in there and cover them back up. try that and see what happens. good luck!!

just a regular shoebox is big enough, and your going to want to place it on the warm side. as far as setting up the lay box u want to cut a whole in the top of the box big enough for your beardie to crawl inside. then your going to fill the shoebox with moist vermiculite (u can use several different mediums, but i like vermiculite...) but u want to leave your beardie enough room to get in the box. what your trying to do is kinda make your dragon feel like shes underground. when shes ready just dig down and lay her eggs. so give it a shot and let us know what happens!

I prefer to place mine in a separate lay box. i use a large rubbermade with a slanted pile of moist potting soil. I put a spotlight on one end to geep it warm.

that works too (what willie said) but i personally perfer to make a laying box for the inside of my tank just becuse your lizard will be more comfortable inside her enclosure

thaks guys for all your imput. she is now in her laybox laying her eggs.I went ahead with your idea and but the shoebox in with vermiculite. she has been in their most the day. I can see 5 eggs so far. I am not sure if she is done or not and am getting a little worried. the eggs look real soft. is that normal. no real chance of me keeping them alive. I don’t know what to do. but thank you so much for all the words of wisdom. it has made this mommas life a whole lot easier thanks you guys
