Size Question
I have a male dragon that is 18" long. Currently he is alone, but I am wanting to purchase a female to put in with him. How big of a female should I get? I heard its not good to have too much of a size difference, but im finding it difficult to find a female for a good price around his size. Thanks for any input. |

Size Question
| You can keep them seperated until they are of size...It will probably be cheaper to get a baby. PE |

Size Question
| It’s important to quarantine any new arrivals anyway, so it’s not a bad idea to get a younger female and let her grow up a bit. You really shouldn’t mix a new dragon with a current one for at least 60 days, I quarantine for 90 as it can take that long for a small parasite infestation to "bloom" enough to where it’s detectable. Coccidia has a 30 day life cycle so a 90 day quarantine is only a few generations. If the female had a small quantity of coccidia in her system when you get her, it’s barely detectable before at least 2 months. In 3 months time it can be tough to get them to mate as it’s likely to be brumation season so it’s best to wait until next spring to breed. By then a younger female should have gained a fair bit of size. |
