 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

You dont write HELP in bold letters just for a simple question as to..what age of the beardie should you get.

Answer your question is.. if you have nooo clue what a beardie is and what they need then dont get one at all. I would adopt if you dont care of the age. There are a lot of adults out there that need good homes. If you know what your "future" beardie needs.. please inlighten me....

 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey Kcush, i don’t agree with what you said at all. It’s that reason why there are so many adult animals in shelters and up for adoption, because people get a baby animal because its cute, but don’t realize what they will need for it when its full grown (ie how big of a cage for a full grown beardie, or how big of a place for a dog, along with room to run outside).
And to you Turtle Dude 100, If you aren’t that experienced with beardies or don’t know a lot about them. Then i would go with an adult. They are easier to take care of then a little baby. Also don’t be worried about you thinking that an adult will be more mean or something like that, because beardies are very nice animals, and yes, like any animal they may have been miss treaded as a baby so there is always a chance that it can be mean. But just take to the previous owner/shelter if you can’t go see the beardie yourself, (if you find one online that you like). But if there is a local shelter near you that has adult beardies then i would say go there and hold them and see what you like.

 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rowdy is right. Baby beardies are very very sensitive to their environments, so any kind of problem in that department could mean death to your baby dragon. I mean keeping a bearded dragon isnt the toughest thing in the world, but I would do your research before buying either. I would get an adult because they are more tolerant of changes to their environment, they are easier to handle (babies are pretty skittish and jump a lot), look cooler, are easier to care for, and are a little less expensive to feed. Like Rowdy said, there are a lot of dragons that would appreciate you coming to their rescue from animal shelters. Babies are cute too though... but trust me when I say your gonna be anxious for them to grow up in a hurry.

You get ill? what does that have to do with anything?? Sorry, I call everyone dude or man... girl or guy... my bad. You get frustrated helping people? maybe you should find a new hobby then... its not like you have an obligation to this forum. Don’t mean to sound rude or anything but its kind of ironic though... usually people feel gratified by helping... not frustrated.

Oh no! Dont take it that way.. I love to help people esp the people that want it. It just is frustrating when people come on here wanting help and then dont take it! But, hey you cant pick and choose, they are all out there! I just feel bad for the beardies! Anyways, its cool! I love helping people..and I have a lot of hobbies, this one is just to pass time and obviously help the people that need it and their beardies! :) These lil creatures (and every other creature out there) are just so sweet and innocent!

Have a good one!

 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

And to turtle.. yes, that sounds good about getting the one at the pet store. Just make sure he is active and healthy looking. The new people to this always seem to get the sick ones and dont know till its too late and they end up dying. I would get a poop sample into the vet, that will be a good idea too when you first get him. Just drop it off at a vet and have them analize it so you make sure he doesnt have parasites or anything bad...

Just make sure you also have the right elements for him as well. Digital thermometers, basking bulb, uvb bulb, something high to bask on, calcium without vitd3 and then calcium with vitd3..daily without and once weekly with the vitd3. And something like tile or papertowels for the substrate. Also, collards and musturd greens etc for his daily veggies and crickets no bigger than the space between his eyes will do just fine! You will be set! Make sure his tank is 20 gallons or bigger too! Show pics if and when you get him!!

Good luck to you!

Hey Lauren! Do you know of any rescues or anything like that? I think I would probably like to go with an adult myself not really to sure where I could get one though, well besides a breeder. Also I swear this kid talks just like that Mike 1998 kid. Maybe its the same kid?

Yea, some people are pretty stubborn on here... there come here for help and then act like they already know everything and get defensive when you tell them that what they are currently doing isnt correct. I definitely know how frustrating that can be.

It would be alot easier to tell you what you need if you tell us what you’re planning to get. Make a list and we will fill in the blanks.

 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it needs a 30 gal. cage, that special light, some stuff to climb on (what’s best?), a dome like house, and some sort of ground coverage (what?) and a shallow water dish. Feed it as many crickets the size in between his eyes as he can eat in 7-10 minutes. What else and what is the prices?

Thanks

 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will need 2 dif kinds of lights. A basking light & a UVB light. Their are many lights that cause eye problems but the ones I have learned are the best would be the ReptiSun 10.0 or the ReptiGlo 10.8. This light should stretch over the entire length of the top of the cage. U can buy a round dome light fixture for the basking light. Basking temp should be between 110-115 & around 105 for an adult.

Substrate: paper towels, newspaper, paper towels, ceramic tiles or ceramic tiles. Many people will advise against using sand because the lizard may eat it & it may cause impaction. I agree & would rather be safe then sorry!

You said you will have a 30 gallon tank? 30 gallons is ok to start with if you decide to purchase a baby. However, an adult dragon will require a 40 gallon breeder tank as a minimum.

Wow...ok so I am @ work & trying to help you so please dis-regard my mispelling or mistakes! I was just re-reading my post to u & realized that I typed a few things incorrectly. Let me correct myself on the lighting I suggested. I meant to say the ReptiGlo 8.0. Sorry again. If you have any more questions, just ask...people here are very helpful & offer good advice:)

Lennifer gave some good advice but I’d like to add on to it.
You need a digital thermometer with a probe. Walmart has one called accurite for $12.
You need a good supplement like Repcal or Jurrascial (phosphorus free, D3 free calcium and a multivitamin).
You need to feed a baby beardie as many crix (or roaches, silkworms) as he will eat for a 15 minute period 3 times a day, not just once a day.
Seeing as how you were pretty vague on what you thought you needed for a beardie, I’d also recommend you do more research on them. Try to get your enclosure set up first and your temps right BEFORE you get a beardie.

Why don’t you do a google search for those items that have been listed. I can’t tell you what the prices of everything are in your area. You can get all of that stuff cheaper online at LLLreptile.com.
