Regurgitation in the AM Hey everyone. I am new to bearded dragon keeping but I did do a lot of research before I purchased one.
I have a 4.5inch to 5 inch baby bearded dragon that is on paper towels. Drinks and eats constantly. However, after about an hour of being awake, she will regurgitate the meal worm shells. I know that they are hard for them to digest, but she will poop later on in the day after eating more meal worms. The poop is half white and half brown/black. She does have something to eat about 2 hours before she goes to bed.
The temp of her habitat is 86 and 107 at the basking rock. (digital thermometer)
I believe she is just eating too close to lights out and is not getting enough heat to digest the food properly. I have tried to feed her crickets, but she just doesn’t like them. I have tried to find silk worms but i can only find the caned ones.
Please Help

Regurgitation in the AM Ijust went to those sites. I will be ordering from mulberry farms, but I was wondering what other types of insects would be healthy for her?

Regurgitation in the AM crickets are a good staple...you can buy different sizes, and since yours is still a baby make sure they arent bigger than the space between their eyes. also go to www. beautiful dragons .com (remove the spaces) and check out the nutrition chart, you should get your little guy started in salads asap.
hope that helps.

Regurgitation in the AM well, its true what they say. Every solution creates more problems. She won’t go for crickets jumping around in the tank, but will take them hand fed. Don’t worry, I removed the crickets that were jumping around the tank. Don’t want my baby to wake up with missing eyes...
I don’t have the time to hand feed her in the afternoon due to classes and work. I do however put chopped carrots, romaine lettuce, and red cabbage in a small lid in her tank before I go to class in the A.M.. I’m not really sure if she eats its though. I get back hours (about 6) after I leave in the morning and the pieces are shrivled up and dried.
Atleast with the hand feeding she is getting unbelieveable friendly and playful. I have only had her for about 4 days and didn’t expect her to want to play the way she does already.
She also doesn’t like the taste of the calcium powder and vitamin supplement spray I put on a few of the crickets she ate. She ate about 2-3 of each coating. Any suggestions?
O yea, don’t worry I am gut loading those little things as well.

Regurgitation in the AM I forgot one more question....sorry for posting multiple posts...
She is about 5 inches long, about how many small crickets should she be eating a day? She ate 13 when I was hand feeding her...chubby little thing... I figure if she does this three times a day if I am home for lunch, she would be eating about 39 a day.
Thanks

Regurgitation in the AM make sure that u r dusting the crickets with pure calcium powder during the week and a multi-vitamin powder on the weekends
feed as many crickets as he will eat in 15 minutes. and if ur having trouble with the crickets jumping around and hiding u can try putting ur beardie in a separate container (Rubbermaid) and put the crix in there
good luck

Regurgitation in the AM At her age, she should be getting fed cricket’s 3 times a day for 15 minutes each time. This means you could easily go through a few hundred or so a week. She should be eating tons of protein right now. Also, what you’re giving her for a salad isn’t really that great. Check out beautiful dragons.com (one word) for better options. Click on nutrition content. You should stick with dark, leafy greens like collard, turnip, mustard, kale, or dandelion greens with squash. For protein, you can also try roaches as a staple (roaches, silkworms, crix are staple).
Quote: u can also feed superworms
Superworms aren’t meant for beardie’s under 12".

Regurgitation in the AM Yeah, I have been reading this post. What Sairhead said is right about the lettuce stuff. He should be getting collards and all the others she mentioned. Stop with the carrots b/c it causes eye problems.. I’m guessing you have a bag of mixed greens type thing.. better if you just buy a bundle of the collards for like 2 bucks and they last a week or more... Also, no mor emealworms which you know..they will cause impaction..and lead to death! Since you have only had him/her for 4 days I would chill out on the worrying of the feeding. Def let her eat as many as she wants in a 15 minute period but dont worry about her not eating a "certain" amout. Mine ate one day and then didnt the next. He is that way now and he is about 8 inches long and 2 months old. So,if they are hungry they will eat..if not they wont. Just make sure you supply her with the greens daily, cut up VERY small. I use the calcium without the vitd3 every day and every feeding of crix/roaches. Then once a week I use the other calcium dust with the vitd3 with the crix/roaches. You can put some crushed alfalfa on top of the greens for the vitamin supplement. I have a colony of roaches that I am breeding and they have babies which are too small but they will be big enough in a week or so, so I feed him crix till then. Just make sure whatever you feed her is the size between her eyes... so pretty small if she is about 6 inches. Go to the pet store and ask for pinheads or small and look at them and make sure they are small enough. When you go onto these other websites and order some insects, make sure you get like a 1/4 inch size I’m guessing. Here are some pics for ya!
Good luck!!

Regurgitation in the AM Good news, no regurgitation since the switch so problem solved.
I need help getting her to want to rat the crickets on her own. She seems to only eat them when I hand feed her. I have a large tupperware container that I put her and some crickets in. She ignores them and tries to run out of it for 10 minutes and completely ignores the crickets. I know she is hungry, so i don’t know what the problem is. All suggstions welcome.

Regurgitation in the AM just keep trying the tub method and when feeding just show her the crickets with whatever u r using ( tweezers) and then just drop it in front of him/her and they will see it and hopefully take it, dont worry if shes not eating as much as u would like right now bc he/she is still new to his/her environment. also sit by the cage and watch him/her, so they can get to know u r there. as long him/her r eating there greens and getting some protein, u should be good. anymore questions u have feel free to ask.
good luck

Regurgitation in the AM I have her habitat on my desk right next to where I work on my computer so she gets lots of attention and always sees me. I will continue the bucket method. I noticed she mainly eats at around 1pm. She doesn’t take any crickets in the AM (ill explain why its not greens shortly) and maybe one or two at night. i am having trouble with her accepting greens but i am working on it. I have gotten her to "taste" the greens a few times when feeding by hand but never just in a dish. Any ideas on how to make them more appealing?

Regurgitation in the AM Do not feed it any carrot at all. It is horrible on their eyes. i currently have a rescue that is blind from being fed carrots. Second, you gotta loose the romaine. It is closer to water then nutrition. She need to be fed mustard, collard, or turnip greens. or a similar dark leafy green. Kale can also be fed occasionally, but not as a staple as it is high in phosphorus, which blocks calcium absorption. -Jay

Regurgitation in the AM I havent fed her any of that since I was told this. I was given bad information when doing research from a website for bearded dragons. They said it was fine. Well, now I have a salad for me atleast. I baught collard greens the other day. Still working on getting her to eat them. She seems to only take crickets when hand fed. I don’t mind too much bu want her to be able to do it herself. I so enjoy the bonding that occurs from it. I am going to buy silk worms from mullberry when Iget my paycheck at the end of the week. Until then it is gutloaded crickets. i think she is just afraid of them a little because they jump all over. She goes for worms from a dish ASAP.

Regurgitation in the AM Also... If he’s throwing up, make sure you keep him well hydrated. I just lost my little girl on Tuesday because my hubby over fed her and then she threw up everything and got so dehydrated I couldn’t bring her back. I didn’t even have time to get her to a vet!
So keep some pedylite on hand and put some in his dish. Or if you notice he’s not doing great just give him a warm bath with water and pedylite.
Hope he gets well!

Regurgitation in the AM She hasn’t thrown up since the stoppage of feeding her meal worms. I couldn’t find mustard greens but did get my hands on some endive (i think thats the correct spelling). According to beautiful dragons.com this is a suitable veggie. She also loves them.
