 Male caging

I was wondering if there is any way to keep 2 male dragons together without fighting. I know that you two hides, shelters, logs and dishes.

I;m sorry but you cant and shouldnt put twom males together for these reasons. One will become territorial and make the other one not eat. One will dominate pretty much. They might be best friends at first or for even a while but it will happen. Also, two females are the same and with a male and female, once the male gets old enough (sexually charged) he will mate the female so much that it will end up killing her. You should let them breed once and then seperate for the remander of the year b.c the female can store sperm in her for a long time and have multiple clutches in that same year with just one breeding session. The male of course wont realize he is mating her to death b.c he is an animal...thats their instinct. So, I wouldnt house 2 males together. Sorry..

If you have a problem with the enclosure or cant get one for a while and have 2 males, then put a seperater in the tank for them. The thing I was talking about with the dominance will take time..but it will happen! Make sure their tanks are at least 20 gallons if under 12inches. If they are bigger than get 2 40 gallon tanks! I hope this helped you!

Take care!

 Male caging

I posted this on another thread today.

Quote:

No matter what any breeder or pet store worker tells you, they are not social. They don’t need or want a companion. Other beardie’s only cause stress. It isn’t even safe to house two females together. Two males will ultimately fight (which can lead to serious injury, death, and huge vet bills). A male and female won’t work either. Males are sexually mature at only a few months old. Females cannot breed until they’re 18 months old and at least 350 grams. Males will breed with females before they’re ready. This will result in 20-50 eggs every 30 days for up to a year. That’s alot of baby’s! Not to mention it will mean an early death of your female.

Females shouldn’t be housed together either. Even if they don’t fight, it doesn’t mean they like being housed together. They aren’t social. They just really prefer to be alone. I know a very well respected breeder who had 2 females together for years. He came home one day and they were tearing each other apart. I really wouldn’t risk it, especially with males.
