 UVB Question

This might be a stupid question but I would rather look stupid than be wrong. We have all heard that too much of a good thing is bad. I keep my beardie by the window with the window open on nice days and have a reptisun 10 bulb for her. Can she get too much UVB?

 UVB Question

What kind of tank is she in? Because from what I have read in my books and on the net UVB rays won’t go through glass, so if she is in the tank next to the window she isn’t getting any UVB from the sunlight. So the only UVB she is getting is from the bulb you are using and that isn’t to much. Hope I helped.

 UVB Question

She is in a glass tank, but she is located at the bottom of a tall window. Plus, with how the sun sits, shines through the top of the tank for about 7 hours a day.

 UVB Question

Hey just be careful her tank doesnt get too hot. They can over heat very easily like that. Honeslty, I would just move her or put the blinds down and crack them. Theydo like light and allbut the heat could mess her up and dehydrate her even if its not too hot in there. She needs a cool spot where she can hang out if the sun bothers her... And the uvb is plenty enough if you keep it on for the hours you have it off. Plus, its’ ok to take her outside for 15 minutes every couple days and let her hang. Just dont dust her food with calcium with the vitd3..that will be an overdose then!!! Just use the regular kind without it!

 UVB Question

Ok if you take your beadrie out of his tank and into direct unfiltered sunlight everyday for more than 15 mintues, you dont need a uvb light. If you choose to keep it, then you dont need it on so much. As long as you have some source of uvb either fake or real..one day or the other..its fine. And no, there isnt a thing as too much uvb..but I wouldnt advise it. A lot of people choose to take out their uvb bulb during their summer months b/c the weather gets nice enough to take the beardie out daily. Or every other day. So.. it depends on your weather. Also, if you are taking himout in unfiltered light, dont feed him the calcium WITH the d3 b/c the unfiltered sunlight is way stronger than fake.

 UVB Question

The only thing I’d be worried about is the tank over heating. Monitor his temps closely, especially on hot days. UVB gets blocked by glass so unless you have your window open and the sun is shining directly in the tank (through the screen or open top), he isn’t getting any extra UVB.
