 Eddie you need to relax !

Hi guys, Eddie is doing just fine. I did however end up selling Ozzy in the hopes of a better life after reading repeatedly here that its much better keeping a Beardie on its own in a cage. It was sad but better for the dragons. Luckliy i havent had Ozzy for too long but it was still not a nice feeling losing him.

So Eddie is now on his own and the kitty litter was replaced with green carpet. Its autumn here so Eddies appetite has decreased dramatically- other that that he seems in good health and i will be taking him for his first Vet visit soon.

MY QUESTION: I work long hours and when i get home i try and play with him as much as possible in order to tame him. He however doesnt seem relaxed enough and tries to wriggle out of my hands. I talk nicely to him and scratch him under the chin and hold him correctly etc.

WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE THAT WILL MAKE HIM MORE RELAXED AND FRIENDLY AND TAME ?

What are the hours you work and what are the hours he is awake?

If you take him out in mid day or with a lot of lights, he will wiggle b/c he is young still. You cant force a young beardie to be tame. If that is, he is young. Now, if he is an adult, then he isnt comfortable with you and I would suggest picking him up late at night before lights out and holding him under your shirt.. in the dark (for him) and he will pass out. He will feel your comfort and become more chill with your touch. He needs to trust you. Also, baths are good for him to trust you too. Do you give him baths anyways?

Hi Yoshi- thanks appreciate the advice- I will try the under the shirt idea- i do give him a bath about 3 times a week and mist him the rest of the time- he LOVES misting- He is still young so maybe i am impatient- I just also feel that he propably doesnt want to be manhandled all the time.

Hey no problem. Thats how I get my guy to calm down. Like, if I take him out late and he is all over the place.. I usually just stick him under my shirt that has a under shirt of course so he doesnt scratch me and he kinds starts to wiggle and scratch to get comfy and then passes right out! I leave him there for about an hour petting him and what not cuz I’m usually still. I wouldnt walk around with him, cuz he might fall out.. ouch! But anyways, he enjoys it and then I turn his lights out and put him to bed. So, he is a real good boy at that time. The baths are good, and my guy loves his mists...not many of course for the RI reason but I mist his basking slate and he will wiggle all about and lick it and rub his head against the walls..its cute!
