 Getting oler, changing diet?

I saw a thread on here a few months back on how often to feed crickets/dust with vitamins and calcium for a 6 month, a year old ect, and I was wondering if anyone knew a link to it. Johnson is hitting the 6 month mark and it seems he’s changing his diet on his own. I feed him twice a day still but he only eats 10-20 as opposed to 30+ before. He eats most of his greens and fruits I offer. He is still on Albon because there was still some coccydia on his follow up. Just want to know when to feed less crickets and less vitamins for future reference as well.

At his age he should be getting pure calcium once a day until he is 8 months to a year, then 3 x a week for life. The multivitiman can be offered once or twice a week for life if your using the Herpivite, and D3 of course is once a week no matter what the age unless you use a MVB. After one year old bugs should be offered no more than 3 x a week. Do you think he is maybe slowing down on bugs now due to the Albon? That is really harsh on their system and can at times prevent them from eating or very little. Have you offered him anything to help with the meds like Acidophiliz +?

Thanks Nancy,

It’s hard to tell if it’s the albon or not because it’s hit or miss. Sometimes be barely eats, sometimes he eats twice. I was giving him the probiotic, but I had to start treatments again. It seems counter productive to give it while treating so I’ll resume when he’s finished. Albon kills all bacteria, not just the bad stuff. So bugs once a day now is fine, or keep twice a day and just shake and bake once?

At 6 months I would still offer 2 x a day if he will eat if, if not than once a day is fine. I mean, if he doesn’t want to eat twice daily it’s not like you can do anything about it right? As long as it’s not the paracites preventing him from eating, or the Albon like you said...Yes, calcium once a day is enough :)

He can still get benefits from the probiotic, just don’t give them at the same time as the antibiotic. for example, if the antibiotic is once a day, give the probiotic 12 hours later. If the antibiotic is twice daily(eg 7-7) give it around 1 PM. It needs to be given at least 2-3 hours before or after the antibiotic.
