I need help with my bearded dragon

i have a bearded dragon she about 3/4 yrs old i’ve had her since she
was 2wks old but i went away for a month and my family was
looking after her to my knowledge they did as i instructed
them to but she lose a lot of wait and you can see this by
looking at her as she has lose it of her back legs and tail
and her eyes look dull &if she is half a sleep & she seems
to be unable to hold any heat in her body so i have up her
heat in her basking area to 110 and she has uvlights as
well. i’m hand feeding her cricket that are dusted in
vitamin powder and calcium & salad is this the right thing to
do and dose anyone else have any ideas on wot to do
she lives on her own but for the last year 2 yr she has
started to lay eggs and the last time she did she lost a lot
of condition and it was nearly fatal for her but i have
checked and she has not laid. i would take her to the vet
but there are non that see reptiles where i live

Thanks for joining! I’m the one who asked you to join here! You made a good move, trust me :-)

Those people at Yahoo are nuts! Someone told you to feed her wax worms, that’s a bad thing to do in my opinion. If a Beardie is skinny and lethargic it needs Nutrients and Vitamins, not fat. Waxworms are mostly just fat, for now feed her as many crickets as she will eat in a 15 minute period, 3 times a day, every day. Dust them with 100% calcium once a day with every feeding and once a week with Calcium that has D3. Read Nancy’s comment (Her User ID is Newfgal, you can trust her too :-)

Quote:

At his age he should be getting pure calcium once a day until he is 8 months to a year, then 3 x a week for life. The multivitiman can be offered once or twice a week for life if your using the Herpivite, and D3 of course is once a week no matter what the age unless you use a MVB.

You will get plenty of good help here, talk to you later and thanks for joining! :-)

You can introduce yourself here if you want to: Link

Hi there,

If your beardie is 3-4 years old, she should only be getting protein no more than 3 x a week (unless she was gravid) To much protein at that age can shut down the kidneys and or liver failure. And since she is 3-4 years old, pure calcium should be offered 3 x a week, again, unless ahe was gravid, then you would have to offer more due to her body taking all the calcium for eggs, but otherwise 3 x a week is enough...

I think your right about it being years because otherwise he probably would have just said 9 months. Oh well, I’m just glad he came here and left the Yahoo nuts. :-)
