It depends- how old is he? What do you feed him? Does he drink his water? Do you bathe him? How do you take care of him?

Sounds like impaction. Soak it in warm chest deep water. Stroke its belly to help move it along. After about 30 min dry him off and set him near the heat lamp and uvb light to help his digestive system. Hopefully he will poop and the sand will come out. NEVER use sand as a substrate. I use reptile carpet harder to clean but worth my beardies health. OMG Lettuce is unhealthy for beardies. They shouldnt have large portions of carrots either it has alot of vitiman A which can lead to Vitiman A toxicty. You should be feeding you beardie kale, collard greens, turnip greens, squash, apples maybe 4 times a week, bell peppers, snow peas, sweet potatoes, carrots 4 times a week in small portions. You should be feeding him maybe 5-10 crickets sprinckled with calcium dust 4 times a week with vitiman d3, even give him a varity like mealworms, waxworms, superworms, and more.

Well I would first probably take him out of the sand. It might be too much for him to handle right now. But that would be the only thing you can do right now and hope. Oh and what are you feeding him right now?

Get him to a reptile specialist NOW. Don’t force water or anything you may drown him. Don’t force anything , get him to the reptile specialist. Vets only have minimal knowledge of reptiles. After- reading this again, if they did infact do CPR on a reptile then release it into your care then it passes away and you signed the papers. Take it back to the vet NOW make them hold reliability. They have made you sign a 24 hr release so be back before 2 hrs is up. Take him back NOW. Make them take full responsibility.

Don’t feed him lettuce.. it has no nutrients for beardies and cause diarrhea. For greens, feed him dandelion greens, collard greens, endiva, as a staple (i.e. every day), and crickets about twice-three times a week.

Give him a bath.. fill the tub up with warm water (not scalding hot, not cold), just so that it covers his legs, don’t want it over his head or anything. Let him soak, this will help him poop. If you bath him once every 5-7 days, you don’t have to worry about the water so much. You shouldn’t be squirting his tank with water, bearded dragons are humid-sensitive, by squirting his tank with water you are raising the level of moisture thus the humidity. You don’t want a humid environment for your beardie.

Here is a really good resource for foods that are safe for your beardie: http://www.beautiful dragons.503xtreme.co…
I use it all the time when I’m wondering if I can feed something to my beardie.

If the bath doesn’t seem like it’s helping, take him to a reptile vet. What kind of sand are you using for your substrate? If you are keen on using the sand, you should feed your dragon in a separate cage, otherwise the impaction will happen again.

Hopefully everything works out for your little guy.

How could these people not pick up on "Slimy Mouth", especially since it’s slimy enough that the op questioned it? Now my answer:

What are you guys doing!!!!! A slimy mouth indicates a Respiratory Infection! Get his basking temps up to 115-118 like now!!! Go out, see if your pet store sells any Mercury Vapor Bulbs, if they do, get it! Then order this one: http://reptileuv.com/megaray-sb-100-watt-self-ballasted-flood-uvb-lamp.php Once it comes, put it in and then return the one from the Pet Shop. Just tell them you bought the wrong one. And don’t ask your life threatening question here, these people are nuts! Trust me, go to RepticZone.com and ask for help, we actually know what we are doing there. Most important thing right now is get those temps up immediately!!!!! A Beardie can die in a matter of a couple days from a Respiratory Infection. If a beardies mouth is slimy enough that you question it the it has to be an R.I. Get his temps up, get the MVB I linked, a Respiratory Infection is an easily reversible condition with higher temps. I have had several animals with one it it went away soon. Just get the temps up and keep the humidity down. Please listen to me if you want to possibly save his life! You are feeding him wrong yes, but who gives a crap when he could be dead in 12 hours!!!!! Hurry up and get off the computer! In severe cases they can die in 12hrs of getting an R.I. Keep the lights on all night so that he stays hot. Just trust me, he may not sleep well but it’s for his own good. :-)

I mentioned the MVB thing because it seems that he doesn’t have one, in hopes that he will get one. Is it just me or is it madness? :-)
