MegaRay and TRex are 2 VERY good MVB bulbs, if you can find those, try them! I have a Trex, and I love the way my beardies colors shine! Sifted play sand is good after a year old. But play with the temps, because your current light may not get the tank hot enough. Basking should be at 110 F with sand. Put the dish on a tile area, or feed live feeders out side the tank so your beardie can not eat the sand and get impacted. Brittany |

I am not sure on age, and since I am new to beardies, going by size to guess age doesn’t work well for me. So do you think, in your opinion, that I should try it while the little guy is only at the 9.5"/10" mark? Thanks again, Tim. |

What are your temps currently at? And I’m guessing you are currently using paper towel? I ordered my Trex as well, took quite awhile to get it, so for sure get a ReptiSun in the mean time! Buying lights can become such a hassle sometimes, lol. You mean try the sand? Well, I’m not very good at guessing age by size either, because it really depends on the beardie, sometimes some are smaller or larger than others. Can you post a pic, would love to see him!? Someone mat be able to better guess the age of your little guy :) Best of luck! Brittany |

Temps currently are at 70-75F at night and mid/high 80s during the day, and yeah paper towels or news paper. Lol thats for sure! Alright, I may try a little sand and see how he does over a couple of days, I would think with the right temps if he ate a little he would be alright, I am used to my monitor eating some sand/topsoil mix when he gets his roachs. As for pictures, I will take some tonight and post them sometime later. Thanks again, Tim. |

You definately need to shut off the ReptiGlo asap. As long as he has a heat source he will be fine without UV until you get the new one. As Brittany stated, the T-Rex flood or the Megaray are the best two MVB’s on the market. They will provid heat and UVB all in one. If you are to use playsand though, you will need another dome with a regular heat bulb to get those temps up to 110f at least, no lower for sand. If his day temps are only in the 80’s right now you will need a higher wattage of bulb for right now. He will not beable to digest his food if temps are that low and may leave him impacted. T Rex flood MegaRay You need at least a 40 gallon breeder tank (36x18x18) to use a MVB due to the high levels of heat and UVB they emitt. Any tank smaller can harm your beardie... Nancy |
