 Moss question...

this is a gecko question...im posting it over here cause i noticed there isnt as much activity on the gecko forums and i know alot of my beardie friends have geckos as well.
anyhow my question is do yall keep moss in the cages at all times or only when its shed time...also, if you keep it in at all times do you spray it everyday? oh...and how often do you change it out?

 Moss question...

what kind of gecko?

leopard gecko?

i keep a humid hide in my tank at all times but i dont use moss i just use simple paper towel unless they’re gravid. then i switch to vermiculite.

i change out the paper towel in my humid hide about once a week
and mist it usually about once a day or more if its drier

 Moss question...

yes...leopard geckos
i was told by someone who breeds them to use moss in the humid huts to aide in their shedding... i guess everyone is different. i heard that those mosses sometimes grow fungus tho, so that has worried me. THANKS FOR A NEW IDEA THO! ;)

 Moss question...

i heard that u put peat moss only in there moist hide because it helps moisture, but im pretty sure they cannot be on it as a loose substrate because of impaction. Im no expert but i try to help. Im sure u can leave it in there 24/7 and change it however often it says that it goes bad. Im sure someone will give u better advice. Oh and next time u post off topic but OT: infront of your title some ppl go crazy over that...not a lot on here tho. Just looking out :D

im not using it as substrate, i use reptile carpet. i just put a little bit in the hide huts and mist it down once a day. i oredered the moss off a reptile site and didnt receive any instructions with it....kinda strange. i change it out when i change the carpet out...once a week.
thanks for the advise about the off topic thing....dont want to get anyone upset! :)
