 Concerning Squash

I brought home some acorn squash for Nicol Bolas yesterday and it’s very dense and hard. Should I microwave/boil/other wise prepare it before giving it to him or is raw ok?

Also, what are some veggie treats you guys feed your beardies? He hates watermelon, we gave him a wax worm the other day as a treat and loved it, however I’m looking for some thing a bit healthier lol.

Thank you!

Nope, you do not have to cook the squash. Just peel it, wash, and grate with a cheese grator :)

I just gave him the squash and I promise you, he nudged it out of the way so he could get to the arugula. (loves arugula!) I’ll definitely try some of the foods you listed!

Thank you both very much!

I use a cutco chef knife and a cutting board with my squash...

by the time I get done mincing, its in little tiny digestable miniscule nuggets.

Yea, I minced the squash pretty small.
SBM Beardie: Nicol Bolas too!!! We put in a piece of the red prickly pear fruit and he licked it a little bit, then just basked on it. I tried to take it out when he moved off it, but he charged at me and defended his fruit! His face and belly were bright red from it!

You mean for coloration or density? Nicol Bolas only turned a red color cause he had juices all over him from laying on the fruit. We had to give him a bath and I thought about saving a piece of his paper towel at that point because of the tiny little pink dragon prints across it were so cute.

That’s about the consistency I chopped it for Nicol Bolas, he was very interested, but still just ate around it. lol. I think he’s a little picky!

Very cute picture by the way of your beardie!

Acorn squash is really really hard. Try butternut squash, its really good for them and easy to cut/chew and doesn’t go bad for a long time!
I love making epic salads for my dragons haha so fun.
