 Have a Question

My sister is getting a 41/2 year old Beardie today. I was just checking with you guys what a good healthy weight and size for one that old would be. The person that has it now has it in a 20gallon. we will be moving it to a 55gal. Also my sister has some drift wood that see got at the ocean and would like to use it in the tank. I told her that she would have to bake it to kill any parasites or bacteria. Does anyone know what temp to bake at and generally for how long. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 Have a Question

Hi there,

Well, one of my males will be 4 years old this summer, and he is well over 500 grams. They all grow at different rates though and it also depends on if it has gotten proper care all it’s life also. If it has been in a 20 gallon all it’s life, my guess is it’s growth has been stunted making it alot smaller than it should be. If it has not had proper UV lighting, supliments, and diet also, I am guessing it’s not very healthy at this age. Again, it depends on the care it’s had...Do you know the weight and size of him/her?

I would invest in a 40 gallon breeder tank for him/her. The 55 gallons are not wide enough for beardies, not even a young beardie imo...

As for the driftwood, it should be soaked in 1 part bleach solution to 10 parts water overnight, and bake in the oven at 250 for an hour or two. Make sure it’s rinced really well also before baking...

If you have any more questions/comcerns, feel free to ask :)

Nancy
