 Floppy dragon!

Hi there,
I’m new to this forum and I am looking for some advice.
For the last 24 hrs my citrus beardie has been very lethargic. He is still reacting to sounds and looking around fine and has his eyes open but from his head down, he is as floppy as a rag doll. He doesn’t seem to be reacting much to touch. He is still eating ok and going toilet but did not move in his viv for quite a while.
Can anybody tell me what’s wrong with him?

Thanks in advance! :)

Welcome to RZ! I think more information would help. What is the substrate you are using? What are the temperatures? Do you have a UVB light? What do you feed him? Have you fed him something you don’t usually feed him lately?

He has crickets and greens daily. Wooden chips as substrate ( too large to eat) yes he has uv light. I’m going to change the light tomorrow incase it’s that. Thermometer states mid to high 80s

Thanks for your response and hope the above helps!

Hallo! I’m also a new beardie parent, still learning. I have been told by a breeder though to be very careful not to feed the young beardies anything bigger than the distance between their eyes as larger prey will compress the nerve along their backs causing paralysis. I don’t know if this is true though and I certainly don’t want to scare you. Another possibilty is that he has impaction (blocked bowels). I would suggest take him to the vet asap and in the meantime keep him warm, especially his belly to help digestion, but be careful with a heating pad so as not to cause burns, even if it does not feel very hot. Good luck! Let us know what’s happening?

Hi there, I’m not a new beardie owner just new to forums. I have changed the bulb as I said I would and it seems to be working. He is slowly regaining movement. The bulb isn’t that old so not sure why it needed replacing so quickly! Maybe it was faulty. Thanks all for your comments and suggestions. Much appreciated
Katie
