 Pinworms?

So the vet just called me back with Bowser’s fecal test results, and my poor baby has pinworms. He only saw 8-11 pinworm eggs, but since Bowser is so young, I’ll have to give him medication for it, which I’ll be picking up in the morning.

Has anyone else dealt with pinworms in their beardie? From what I’ve read, it’s treatable, but something you have to stay on top of in case they come back. I think the challenge for me is going to be getting him to take the meds!

With any parasite you need to strip the tank and disinfect it ...and all the decor as well ...use bleach and washcloths...soaking the decor in a strong solution or removing it altogether. Pin worms are usually transferred from feeders and insects.

Pinworms - Invisible to the naked eye, Pinworms are surprisingly common, but usually not cause for much concern as only very severe cases will present themselves diagnostically. Pinworms are often ingested from host organisms, including feeder rodents and insects. Such species are usually incapable of infecting reptiles and are simply passed through the digestive tract. Veterinary diagnosis to confirm ID and treatment with prescription drugs is required.

Thanks, Cphill. I actually just did that to be safe, since I figured it was a good idea. I just gave Bowser his first dose of Panacur and I’m pretty sure he hates me now. :(
