My advice is whatever you get, do NOT get a cockatoo. They are BIG birds, not to mention expensive and require special care. A parakeet is a good starter bird and they can be very affectionate. A cockatiel can also be very affectionate but whatever you decide make sure you do your research. I was your age when i got my first bird and i had no idea what i was doing because he was a gift from my aunt so the very first thing i did was i went online and found everything i could about him. He was a lovebird btw and a big handful. All birds require fresh food and water daily, so keep that in mind when thinking about getting a pet. Do you have any other animals?
