Seed mixtures would be the worst thing to feed. They are too high in fat and only make up about 10% of a wild bird’s diet. Pellets make excellent staple foods, as long as they are always supplemented with vegetables, greens, fruits, grains, and cooked noodles. These types of food mixtures are sort of the newest thing in bird food. They are great! I’ve never used this brand, but this gives you the idea: Link The most important thing for any bird is variety. Pellets and grain/fruit/etc. mixtures are great. Feed both, and supplement with fresh foods. They also make bird mixes that you soak/cook with noodles and beans in them. It is best to choose a bird that is already eating pellets/healthy mixes, not seeds. If you do choose a bird eating seeds, here is a link to some good ways to switch the diet. Link |
