 Tiel hates toys....

Alright so ive got a cockatiel named Jake which i learned yesterday is a female. Shes almost 2 years old and i currently have her in a cage thats 2.5x2.5x4 tall. Ive tried putting many differnt types of toys in the cage to keep her occupied while im at school and work but the only thing she likes is her rope swing, which she likes to hang upside down with her wings outstretched on and a little mirror i bought that talks to her when she walks past a certain way.

Everything else she is either afraid of or refuses to play with. Any suggestions?

Also ive tried everything to get her to eat fruit and veggies and pasta but if i put it in her food dish she wont go near it or she will kick it out of the dish. Ive tried mashing it up and mixing seeds in and offering it in my hand but nothing is working.

Thanks for any help...

Scott

P.S. Next year i will be heading off to school and ill be taking her with me as im not staying on campus. I was considering possibly buying a buddy for her because i will be gone for around 8-12 hours a day. I was at the pet store yesterday and they had baby tiels there that were really cuddly and i had about 6 fighting to get on my hand it got me seriously considering it. but i guess i should try and find one thats a bit older so i can tell the sex? Would the cage mentioned be big enough for both?

Well I have 3 tiels at the moment, one (girl) who refuses to play with ANYTHING at all, and two (boys) who play with everything they can a just in general destroy the cage lol so It could just be her preferance as for the baby birds, im not sure it would matter too much which gender you get and even if you do get an older one theres no way to be 100% sure unless of course its laying eggs lol... but thats a personal preference on your end, i also am not sure bout the cage gl!
