If you just got them, they are very stressed out. Put them in a warm room with a towel covering half of the cage, put food and water in (make sure it’s the same type of food they are used to eating) and shut the door and leave them alone. The next few days they should just have a quiet room to get used to their new surroundings without being handled. It’s hard, I know : )

Good luck!

also, you could put some food, millet, or treats in your hand and put your hand in the cage and wait, until they come and eat from your hand. this may take a long while.

I think that the problem mentioned above is also due to stress. I know that sometimes baby birds will also do the same thing. Clean it off with warm water and make sure that they do not become messy again...Try not to handle them for a few days at least, and let them get used to you and their new home.

He may be stressed & frightened so is freezing when he’s being picked up & patted. Leave him a few more days to settle more.

Take them to an avian vet for a check up if you’re worried about them. Budgies are one of the worst parrot species to die "just like that" because owners don’t know what to look out for. they also hide their illnesses extremely well & are prone to quite a few.

When a budgie is brought home for the first time it’s stress levels are very high. This is when any illnesses or diseases start to appear. With high stress levels their immune level drops, therefore get sick quickly which is why quarantine is important with new birds.
