Quaker vs. sun conure
Okay, I need help deciding which bird would be the better choice. I have plenty of time so that’s not an issue. Even though sun conures are expensive, I may as well save up the money and get the one I want, so price isn’t even that important either. I have heard that sun conures vs. quakers is like adopting shirley temple vs. mcauley coulcin. The sun conures being shirley temple and the quakers being more mischievious. However, I heard that quakers are more clever and much better talkers. If sun conures aren’t sweeter than quakers by much than I think I’d go with the quaker. SUn conures are more appealing appearance-wise. People say though that quakers make up for color with their personalities. I dunno, I guess what I’m asking is if I want a sweeter, well behaved bird..which is more likely to fit that description..sun conure or quaker??
Thanks guys

Quaker vs. sun conure I’d have to say my vote is for the Quaker. I’ve had both. My Sun conures name was Buttons. He was smart, very pretty, affectionate and was learning to talk but I had to give him up because he HATED my boyfriend at the time. (Should have kept the bird instead.) He was also INCREDIBLY noisey and prone to temper tantrums. My Quakers name is Hamlet. So far he knows about 25 words as well as mimics every bird in the house and he’s only about 2 years old. While he chatters constantly he doesn’t scream much. He has a HUGE personality and is easiest the best talker in the house which includes the cockatoo and the macaw. He even speaks more then my African Grey did. He isn’t a perfect mimic but he learns words sometimes after only hearing them a few times. We really have to be careful what we say around him. He is more independant then the Sun was.

Quaker vs. sun conure Noise level can differ in sun conrues.
Mine is very quiet. She was adopted & an absolute nightmare but only because she was lonely & bored.
Giving her plenty of out of cage time & things to chew stopped her noise. You can read about her here:
http://www.eclectusparrots.net/squash
You will also read there about her hating men & my partner, but I soon fixed that :D
There are many people who say sun conures are screamers & bond to one person or one sex only. Taken the right steps to start with & this all is non existent or very minimal problem.
I don’t own a quaker but I believe they can have their fair share of problems too, as many parrot species do.
Research both birds really well before you decide.

Quaker vs. sun conure Yeah, I can only tell you my experience of my 2 birds. I DID however take the right steps with Buttons. He was just a very noisy bird. He was out all the time and had plenty of toys and attention. With time we may have been able to get him to accept my boyfriend but my boyfriend wasn’t at all patient. Like I said, should have gotten rid of the boyfriend instead. They are all individuals so what one does another may not. I think quakers are just a little more independant. I’m sure they have their issues as well. Mine rarely screams at all but he really talks up a storm! All birds do, you will NEVER have the perfect bird, but you love them even with their idiosyncrasies. Reasearch is ALWAYS a good idea.

Quaker vs. sun conure I would just like to add my experiences with a Quaker here. I had mine for several years. I got him from a man that told me he had had him for about 10 years. Mine never learned to speak though I tried very hard even to the day he passed away. He would whistle a bit and dance to Jazz music but that was it. He was a bit of a screamer even though his cage was always left open and he had free roam during the day and was closed in at night. I would say he was close to 15 when he died. I don’t know if he never learned to talk because he was older when we got him or not.
Just thought I would share.

Quaker vs. sun conure Quaker all the way. They are incredibly smart and personable and not as expensive as conures. They love people and are much easier to deal with lol. They can get cage territorial so just don’t let them do that and you should be fine. Plus they learn to talk pretty well.
Good luck!

Quaker vs. sun conure Hi
I Breed Conure Hybrids (Nanday/Jenday mix) and I have owned a Quaker.
As far as speech is concerned: Each of my Conures have varied in their speech capabilites.
I have always been told that the FEMALE conure was not good at speech where as the male is.
I have a female Conure that speaks better than any male that I have ever own.
Each one of my Conures has a different personality.
I have one that is docile and easy going, but on the other hand I have one that I named Chaos as he
is curious, onery, and into everything!
I owned a Quaker named Rex that was a "One person" bird.
He was rather entertaining, but he did not get along well with the other birds.
This does not mean that all Quakers are not sociable, it just depends on the bird.
Conures are known for a relatively LOUD screech that they make on occasions.
My Quaker never made as much noise.
I love both species, but my personal favorite as far as entertainment has to be the Conure.
With any bird, once you establish a bond with it you will not be sorry for the choice you made.
Good Luck!

Quaker vs. sun conure Quaker!!!! being a proud quaker owner of my love april for 10 years! i have also had a sun conure for 3 and a half now. April can sign dance do flips she is very smart as she watches TV and learns alot there i rly dont have to work on vocab with her much she just learned to wave last year and every time you walk by her she saysHELLOAPRIL and waves! but she is also cranky about her cage its hers and she will let you know that dont touch it! she has also only bonded with me which can be a downside if you want a family bird. but the sun conure 3 years of working with him daily and not a damn word out of him we got a few different whistles but it took alot of work and he screams more the april has in her whole life. what ever you do dont get both! lol they can compete to who is louder murel always beats april sadly. april is a beautiful green blue while im sure you know the rainbows of colors the SC has it all depends on what you like i truly think the Quakers are prettier because there personality just screams and they really aree not just green like some think. they are both good conures if you get a baby teach him to lay upside down very younge! it will help you with him trusting you!
