 BABAY BLUE HERON! =)
this is what happened while i was with my dad in oregon, 6 hours away from our home in cali. my dad was packing up all our stuff while i was investigating a lil fuzzy caterpillar, when i look up and, well, theres this odd bird standing across the road... just standing still. i walk over and it flaps its wings as though it wants to fly but cant, that and its fuzzy feathers make it obvious that its a lil chick, but the size of a fullgrown bluejay!!!! so i corral him into a spot where several treetrunks are coming up from the same spot, and pick him up. i start walking and he struggles and gets out of my hand (the little brat!). after chasing him slowly for a while, though, he stands still and lets me pick him up, grabbing on tightly with his feet. i look at him a little better and, judging from the beak, it must be a heron!!!!! not to mention that morning, we saw and heard a great blue flying over head, with a single cry. so with him calm in my hands, i walk over to my dad, a puzzling look on his face at the sight of the chick, and tell him about what happened and we decide to go over to the camp owner and see what to do. luckily, theres a park ranger there, so we tell them what happened and they put him in a small box (only temorary) and take him to wildlife images. they also say it looks alot like a heron. im so happy i saved the little chicks life, and though they dont know my name they will tell our story there!!!!
