Just got a Love bird a week ago.. taming help?

While I have had a plethera of birds in the past. This is my first love bird.
She is a peach face and I have her in a large parakeet cage, I am getting her used to us being around her, and our dogs.
And being comfortable with my hand being in and near the cage. She is getting pretty comfy about that. but not great.
Any tips?

Repetition, mainly. Be calm, and quiet, but firm with her. Also be careful as female lovebirds can become *extremely* territorial of their cage. Lovebirds are one of my favorite parrot species, and they have the personalities to match any large macaw or parrot. They can be stubborn little sh**s, but its worth the time you’ll put into them. Lots of out of the cage time, especially with you time, and you will quickly bond strongly to her, which helps a lot in the training area. As far as actual training, it all really depends on what you want your bird to be able to do. I had a lovebird who could talk, most of my others at least mimicked all my whistles, and all of them (minus the breeding pairs) would ride around with me on my shoulder/head/arm whatever. They can be great little birds, but the biggest thing with them that I’ve found is to make sure they know that YOU are the boss, not them, otherwise you’ll never get anywhere.
