I am new to this section of the site until today when i bought a bird I got Sonny from a small family owned pet store she is florescent canary yellow very VERY pretty girl i got her, cage, toys and food dishes all for 238NOK which is approx 30$ she was handed in to the shop and it was a quick sale hense why she was so cheap (Budgies on there own are around 400NOK and a cage is at least 1,500NOK and upwards) i thought she would have been in reasonable condition but i never realized her feathers in the store its been very hot here so it was dim in the store to keep the heat down slightly for the animals and due to cheap sale her cage wasnt exactly in clean condition it looked alot cleaner on her sand mat than what it was underneath it :( it made me retch put it that way Well Sonny’s feathers are a mess her cheast is fine but wings, tail, head and underbelly are well you can see her underfeathers coming through to which are white in colour and are sticking at funny angles as if she hasnt ploomed herself I gave her a bath with a brand new spray bottle i got at the local chain store (like Petco along wizh news toys, dishes and munchies everything is brand new apart from the cage going to get another one for her in a week when i get paid her cage seems as if it was designed for Canarys and Finches its quite small) i bought the stuff there as the little store isnt exactly well looked after animals are in small tanks ja tanks evan rabbits!! And the size of cages Cockatiels are in is well you must see to believe Anything else i can do to help her feathers? Apart from spraying her lightly each day? Also i dont onow if she has a mental problem but one mintue she is happy chipping away then next mintue she is screeching flapping around and nothing has happend whats with that? I have had Budgie’s before and they have never done that Thank you for your time for those that read and reply Help is much appriciated Ghastly and Sonny |

Message To: Ghastly In reference to Message Id: 2002431 Budgie help: Feather & Screeching
As i wrote in my 1st post i binned all her things and everythibg was bought brand new apart from her cage she is nit short of toys she has a mirror to which she loves to bits, a wooden ladder, jingly dice and a old set of house keys were as before she had a mirror and a plastic ladder :/ If she did have a mental problem would it be because of the lack of entertainment she had previously? As she is a adult budgie not a young thing Also after giving her a shower and with her now dried out her feathers are looking much better from her head to her "hips" are nice and preened and looks much more vibrant so more baths i think are in order obviously as she had a tiny plastic bird bath which was lucky if she could sit in it you think thats whay she wasnt that good condition? But i have ditched bird baths and will lightly spray her daily Just thought i would let you know on her feathers so unless any help can be furtherd on that it is just her screaming and pacing |
