 First Time Owner!

What would be better for a first time bird owner. Cockatiel, Conure, or Lovebirds? I love all of them! What one is the friendliest? I am not worried about them speaking, I just want a good buddy :)

P.S. I do NOT want a Parakeet.

out of those three i would go with some sort of conure

suns make great pets and are a reaonable size

All of what you’ve mentioned are great first birders.

Lovebirds can be a little harder to tame & train. Cockatiels & conures very easy.
I have a sun conure & cockatiel. The sunnie is very active, almost hyperactive. They’re a needy bird, chew as well as a cockatoo & absolutely entertaining!! cockatiels are sweet, quieter, tend not to play, are chewers but not destructive.

What ever you choose make sure you have the time every day for them for at least the next 20 - 30 years.

Oh, I’ll always have time for my animals! I’m down to a Conure or a Quaker ,whichever comes around first. And, my parents said I can start looking for one NOW! I’ve been looking on Craigslist, and I’m trying to find one under $150 with a cage. Any tips you guys can give me? I’ve found a great website called AvianWeb.com. BYE!

Under 150 including cage, this might mean that the bird you get at that price is stuck with a VERY small cage & you will need to buy a larger cage. Both the quaker & conures need room to move. Even if you intend on keeping the bird out most of the day you still eed a large cage for them.

You should start saving now so you can get you bird a larger cage.

I personally started off with a lovebird. he was only 8 days old when I got him, so I raised him and now I am the only person who can touch him... he is my baby... when I’m sick and don’t want to eat.... he doesn’t eat. he sleeps with me while I lay on the couch... (awake) I spent $45 on him and $60 on his cage. (which is a mansion to him) If you are looking for a bird that will be forever devoted to you and you are willing to be up every 2 hours to feed a baby I would definitely recommend a lovebird. I had the same problem when I decided I wanted a bird but I didn’t know what to start off with... and I also did NOT want a parakeet. my next choice was a lovebird... I never regretted. I hope this helps you in your search...

Well, I got a 5 year old Quaker parrot couple days ago. He was $200 with a very nice cage (not one of the cheap ones, this one is stainless steel and has the playtop), food, another playstand, a book, toys (I already bought more toys!), and of course, KeeWee! He is the sweetest thing! After two day he alreaay loves me! He can talk a little, mostly just his name and "What". Also, he LOVES baths! Thank You for all of your advise!

congrats =) I too love quakers =) I did have one but instead of being attached to me she loved my macaw. and her bell... she slept with her bell... seriously... she would put her head in it like a hat and sleep like that all night. the only way I could take her out is to take the bell with her. I never did have to clip her wings tho... even when we went outside. as long as she had her bell she was in heaven =) again congrats on the new bird.. can’t wait to see pics =)
