Quote: sry sara i must disagree some snakes like adult burms and rectics need multiple food items per feeding as most people dont have the heart nor the money to feed them small pigs so therfore left with feeding multiple prey items i must mention im not trying to be rude just giveing my opinion
Just feed one prey item at a time,It’s not that hard to find the right sized prey items for snakes. |

Quote: i have a common boa it is only about 3 months old it eats 3 rat pups every 5 days, but it hasnt pooed for about 2 and a half weeks. is this normal??? he is about 2 ft long
You are feeding too much too often. 3 pups would be near the equivilent of a medium rat which is what I feed yearlings to subadults( 40"to 60" ).Fat boas are not healthy boas. You should be feeding one item about as big around as the thickest part of the boa. And feeding should be spaced out a little further, 7 days is good or you could wait till the snake actually starts getting hungry and activly looking for food. Other than that 2.5 weeks for a bm is not unusual. If there is any kind of bulging towards the back end then you may need to intervine. A warm soak will get things moving, sometimes all it takes is misting the cage down real good. |
