Mouse to big? Try feeding again?

Help, please

Our 4 week old Amazon boa tried to eat a fuzzy tonight, she got up it’s front legs, and looks like she got stuck, so she backed off? Should we let her try it again, or go for a pinkie again? People on here keep saying she needs a fuzzy or a hopper, but I’m thinking this mouse was to big. Should we try to feed her again tonight, sense she is hungry, or wait till tomorrow, so we don’t stress her out?

I am assuming you were watching it eat. Unless it’s cage is a one way mirror, it was probably watching you. It it is being picky and is stressed, it’s going to want to eat alone. It will not want to be held after it eats. So, if you guys have been holding it a lot, it may associate your presence with being held which is why he spit it out

We tried again last night, left her alone in the dark all night, and she still didn’t eat. The pet store we bought her from said to put her back in her small cage, we had her in a 10 gal., that she might be stressed from to big of cage. I’m hoping that that helps. Thanks for the advice on leaving her alone so she can eat. Have a good day.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
great! Now... I don’t wanna sound bossy.. (cause I am..VERY) but it might be a good idea to set the snake up in it’s permanent enclosure and leave it alone for atleast 2 weeks.. it needs to acclimate.. ofcourse.. go in for spot cleanings and water changes... but that is it. I am so happy that you got her to eat.. I have been thinking about you and wondering how she was doing. I know your hubby is going to want to hold her... but keep the flyswater handy... for him.. just whack him on the knuckles lol j/k but once again congrats on the feed and keep us updated

No problem, chezequerz
I’m going through drama myself;
My ATB has shed his skin on his head but is refusing to work on the rest of himself. This will be the first shed he has started since i got him Oct 31, 2007.
He is so long but he does not look like it all curled up (about 5 feet)
I am going to try to keep the humidity and temp up, maybe that will help. I hate trying to touch him because he is so defensive. I have never been bit and i am a little hesitant to put myself in a scenario where i know i can be bit, so i dont like the idea of massaging the skin loose and putting him in warm water. We’ll see,

Osiris - not to hijack this thread, but...

Your snake has not shed in Five Months!?!?!
Either your humidity is way off, or there mmay be an underlying problem...

Try this:

Quote:

The Pillow Case Method...

Take a Large Pillow Case
(one big enough that your snake can move around in, and soak it in Warm water).

Place your snake inside of it.

Tie a loose knot at the top, just enough to keep your snake from climbing out.

While it’s inside the Pillow Case, you can hold your hands underneath
for support and warmth.

Shift the snake around a bit so as to "force" him to move around.

Just make sure it does not remain on the tail, or in a circular around the snake.
Stuck shed "around" the body could cause lack of circulation, or on a tail end
could cause lack of circulation, and deaden the tissue of the tail.

It’s like using a wash cloth, but They are doing the "scrubbing" themselves,
buy moving around in there.

Never peel the shed off yourself, this could damage new scales.
