 NEED HELP WITH MY BOA!!

hello! i got a boa (not sure what type) she is my first snake so not really clued up on her. she’s only a baby n ive had her for about 5 months. last time she shed i think abit of dead skin got stuck to her eye and its made 1 of her eyes look abit unhealthy....im abit worried bout her, should i take her to a vet or will this just simply drop off when she next sheds???? she feeds well and is handled alot, it deosnt seem to be bothering her but i was told that it cud get infected if i just leave it. all advice is more than welcome!! Peace!

just leave it. Correct your humidity and be sure to boost the humidity real high when she begins her next shed until she is done shedding. It should come off. Other methods should be held off on until youve given that a chance since they can be stressful for the animal and possibly injury could occure if done improperly.

Wayne

that eye cap needs to come off. Find someone with experience to remove it and if that means a Herp vet, then so be it. The eyes are a sensitive area to be messing around with and that includes leaving retained shed there.

I would agree with the link posted aswell. Like I previously mentioned, it is not all that a serious situation until it becomes cronic. Humidity chambers or the likes are not real effective at releiving eye caps, they are more difficult then retained skin. Manually removing an eye cap is difficult and will result in stressing the snake out and could result in injury. By following my first post, the OP’s snake should have no trouble removing the eye cap on his next shed.

Prevent the cronic. Find someone with experience to remove it. Think of the snakes comfort. Would you like to wear an eye patch when someone could take it off for you?
