This care sheet on reptile forums covers a lot of the rainbow boa sub species: Link. Here’s another one (take out the space between free & webs: http://www.free webs.com/heatherrosereptiles/rainbowboacare.htm. From what I’ve seen you’re not going to find a care sheet just for the VRB. I think all the sub-species require the same care (not completely sure of this). They’re named differently because of where they come from, but the climates look to be about the same. Good luck.

I forgot to add that you’ll probably get more information if you post in the rainbow boa forum.

Need info on Venezuelan rainbow boas

Lizard King, the following information comes from the book.. Barron’s Boas. A Complete Pet Owners Manual. pg 66-70
there are as many as 9 subspecies... members of this species can grow 5 to 7 feet. All are patterned with a series of large circles or large spots on the dorsum and sides..on a solid background on some shade of red or brown.Their skin displays a high level of iridescence when exposed to light giving them their name. A series of heat sensing pits Can be found in the upper and lower labial scales..aiding in locating prey. With moderate interaction and handling, rainbow boas can become docile. However they are extremely powerful. A cage temp of mid 80’s during the day and mid 70’s at night is ideal. Colombians may prefer higher temps. High humidity is important.. and should be observed for signs of dehydration. Regurgitation, poor skin condition, and difficulty in shedding are symptoms of low humidity. A large water dish should be provided to aid in humidity levels and allow the snake to soak. They have a high level of resistance to dermatitis (blister disease) and can be allowed to soak for long periods without cause for alarm. Breeding strategies are similar to boa constrictors dropping night time temps into low 70’s. Gestation period is 4 to 8 months. Clutches can be as high as 30

Like I said.. this info came from a book... I do not own a Rainbow... but I keep my books with me 24 hours a day. I hope this was helpful...good luck in finding a snake that suits you... look forward to engaging in intelligent conversations with you on forum.

Susan
