She’s real pretty, but I’m pretty sure she is not a pastel. Her saddles don’t look like a pastel’s would and $75 is really cheap for a color morph. But you paid the right price for a pretty normal red tail, congrats

A pastel is not a color morph just selective breeding of really nice normal boas to produce really colorful offspring which are then called pastels. there are alot of sight that you can go to so you can read up on genetics!! and yes I think you have a pastel and got her for a good price:)

I agree. Pastel is not a morph, it is a reduction of black pigmentation and extreme reduction or total lack of speckling, it is simply selective breeding. The reduction of melanin and speckling makes for clean colorful normal BCI boas. I believe the person to coin the term "Pastel", Jeff Ronne uses the word poly-genetics to describe the way "pastel" is inherited. Pastels have a wide range of prices, anywhere from $50 at a show, up to $1000, depends on who’s breeding/selling it, what lines and ultimately what it looks like.

And so far that looks like a pastel by definition, and should turn out to be a real nice colorful animal, remember they don’t start hitting their best colors till about 2 years.

ooooohhhh okay :P

See, I am not fully immersed in the boa morphs quite yet, so please forgive me I am still learning lol. I’ve seen some "pastels" that have different saddles, pigments, speckling, ect., but I didn’t know that they aren’t really a "color morph". Thanks, I learned something new today! lol
