 Have a question

I have a 8ft Colombian Red-Tail Female, Would love to breed her for the first time but having hard time finding the right male all i have ready or shall i say old enough is a North Brazilian an really worried about tring him out due to he is only about 5ft long. Need input. Remind you this breeding thing is all new to me but really want to try it.

First off, I wouldn’t breed a Brazilian to a Colombian unless you think that they would somehow produce some specific desirable traits that you want to see. Breeding two different localities is not typically recommended. The babies would be cross breeds which are not nearly as desirable as pure locality.

To do it just to "try it" is a purely selfish reason to possibly introduce babies (possibly many, many babies) especially if you intend on trying to sell them in an already overflowing market. Just as an example, Peter Kahl didn’t do any pairings last year...I believe he’s holding off again this year too. Now if someone that’s been in the boa breeding/selling game as long as he’s been in it can’t sell his overstock, it’s not very likely that many other smaller breeders will be able to either.

Amie
