 DECIDING WHICH BOAS!!!!!

I was guna buy a couple of boas at a pet shop near my house im tryin to decide between nics or columbian red tails. Im planing on breeding them when i get out of school next year or atleast a year after. i have experience with snakes and need to say i am addicted to them. if i buy nics i can get them both at the same time but if get the columbians i can get one now and one around december i just need help deciding. any replies are greatly appreciated

There are more people breeding colombians, so Id go with Nics if you have to breed at all.
Many of the big time breeders are cutting back and producing fewer snakes do to a glut in the market.

Id do some research before breeding. But if you really plan to breed..well, Nics have more chance of finding homes as there are not as prolific in the market.

Jon,

Personally, I’d go with Nics, but I’m sort of biased :)

They tend to be smaller, and you can find ones that have great dispositions. If you get captive bred ones that are established feeders they can be very easy to take care of.

If you want something a little larger, then go with the Colombian. There are a lot more different morphs out there and it’s easy to find a color and or pattern the you might like.

How knowledgeable is the pet store? I know many don’t know what a "true" Nic or Colombian look like.

I wouldn’t worry about trying to breed them right now (Nics or Colombians) unless you plan on keeping all of the potential babies. I would focus on getting them for the long run, make sure you want them, and can care for them properly before worrying about making more of them.

yea i know im not guna breed for a couple if years. i still with my dad so when i get out of high school ima go find a place to stay and make sure i have enough space for them and get a job just in case i do whined up keepin a few babies or the litter i can take care of them. i would never abandon an animal. i even take care of the feeder rats my albino burmese doesnt eat i hate to see animals suffer.
