Emerald Tree Boa I keep the ETB in my bedroom, since the rest of the house is pretty full. I keep the door open a crack for additional ventilation. So I got up today so find the rascal on my dresser. He had nudged the door over and squeezed out. He’s almost full grown, about 5+ feet long, so finding him is pretty easy. I don’t know how many people here have ever felt an emerald tree boa, but they feel like rubber, almost fake...pretty cool. I love that guy.

Emerald Tree Boa So they feel different than regular boas? Neat. Glad he didn’t get too far!

Emerald Tree Boa He’s extremely arboreal, so the only place he’s going is up! :) Yes, you need to feel one if you haven’t yet. They have a rubbery texture, no doubt to help them on the branches.

Emerald Tree Boa I have a GTB too and he tends to be a bit more nippy. They’re both great in my opinion.

Emerald Tree Boa o, I thought that was what you meant. ETB’s are the ones that have the nice white stripes and the GTP’s are the ones that dont?

Emerald Tree Boa Easy mistake I suppose. Check out one of the many pictures on the web of an emerald and you’ll see the pattern. I have a northern, probably the most common, so you can see the color pattern.

Emerald Tree Boa I am thinking about buying a green tree or emerald boa. Are emerald boas more expensive then gree trees? Which one gets bigger and longer? What is your emerald boas temperament like, aggressive docile? Thanks, Cassandra

Emerald Tree Boa Prices range all across the spectrum. Generally speaking, Emeralds are probably more expensive, if everything is equal: Captive born, good stock, healthy and desirable color pattern. I’ve seen Emeralds as high as $3,500 and as low as $250. GTP are most desireable during thei yellow phase, which is very young, so the laow price of $350 is average, because that’s when their color seems to be the most striking. As far as temperment goes, both are pretty easy to handle. The GTP is a bit more nippy, but not that much so. My Emerald is actually a real nice snake to have and maintain. I’d get another in a heart beat. If you can find a nice yellow phase GTP for $300 or less and know the place of birth and all, then that’d be a good deal. If you find an Emerald, let’s say a Northern, for $300-$500, regardless if it’s WC or not, then that would be a good price for a 4-5 footer. Hope that helps some. I like them both, but would probably lean towards the Emerald.

Emerald Tree Boa I just checked the prices out over at King Snake. A few Emeralds are at the high end, otherwise, you can get either one for around $250-$350. Check it out.
