 How do you tell if my red tail is an het albino or not

i just want to know, i ahve had mine for about 7 months now and i paid about $300 or more, i bought it as an het albino but i don¡¯t think he is. he is an columbian, but he has this really dark skin for his age
do any of you guys mind showing some of het albino pictures so that i can compare them

To date there is no proven marker for Het Albino. The only way to "Prove it out" is to breed it to either an albino or to another Het albino. I wish that there was better news. If you bought your boy/girl from a reputable breeder you should have no problem though.

Prove it out, I have seen a lot of het albinos that are quite dark animals even from babies. But with everything out there coloration on hets and normals and everything inbetween is so variable. There is said to be no ’proven’ way of telling a het from a normal, but some people *cough cough Jeff Ronne* seem to have their own little system down last I was keeping up on that :)

He claims to be able to tell by the eyes, which is think is BS *cough*. Mainly since i’ve seen litters of all normals with this marker, and litters of all hets without.

That’s interesting because I just picked up a het albino and did notice strange eyes. I have had a number of "normal" boas, this is my first Het. albino and I noticed diff. eyes right away, without even thinking about being able to find any "markers". Probably just a coincidence though. But there could be something to the eyes. It could be a "piggy back" trait, something not directly connected to the albino trait, but something that kind of follows the blood line around. Kind of like het. albino retics being a lighter coloration than normals, even if they have been bred to non hets multiple times.

theres no way to prove the traits of a snake unless you hear it from the breeder himself. or you breed and see what comes out!
