 First attempt at breeding.....

This is my first year attempting to breed boas. I am fast learning that it is not as easy as corns and kings..LOL

The last few weeks I have lowered the temps a little, kept the cage pretty dark and sprayed it every day. I assume that the male is at least trying. His head is aligned on top of hers and the tails are atleast aligned the right way. I’ve seen this before but there was no actual copulation. I didn’t want to disturb by checking the vent areas this time. She is in blue now so maybe when she sheds she will be more receptive?

Here is a pic from last week of his tail lying sideways.....? At the time he was swaying the tip of his tail back and forth slowly. Is this a sign of anything?

I would say your well on your way. Let these guys do what they do. It’s tough to tell from pics but I would say he’s where he needs to be. Most males enter from the side. This is a good way to try and catch a glimpse of his hemipenis during copulation. The only other clues that these guys are doing it is if they ask you to dim the lights and shut the door. Be happy your at this point. Many people stare at thier pairs during breeding season and can’t figure out why they are at the opposite end of the enlosure.

What do we have there. Two norms? Het’s?
The male seems a little bigger than the female. How old is your girl?

i just went and got two red tails boas male 4ft and female 6ft she is possible already gravid the guy i got them from said that he saw copulation actualy he said he saw hermipenis also that the last time these two red tails did the deed she had some albinos so im not sure if the male is het albino or the female is im hoping its the male becuase i threw him in the tank with my 9 ft female red tail and after about an hour or two they started courting and have had their tails wrapped up i havent seen hermipenis but im sure that she has gotten preggo how can you tell when she gets gravid? someone told me that once she is gravid she wont want anything to do with the male and he wont want her either just wondering.............
