Ok, 1 attempt at breeding my redtails.I need advice. l im still working out the kinks with the rtbs, but my dumerils are breeding now. i removed the male after seeing them show no interest in each other for 2 days. when i pulled him out, he got nippy and she came at me. i separated them for 24 hrs. when i reintroduced him he went right back courting and began mating within the hour.

Ok, 1 attempt at breeding my redtails.I need advice. l Most leave the male in with the female until ovulation has been observed and the male has lost attention. Boas have a pair of ovaries and alot of times they ovulate seperatly. Once both have ovulated then usually the male will want nothing to do with the female. Now Ovulation can be very difficult to spot. And it can take months of courtship and copulation befor the female ovulates. Alot more info then I want to type can be found on boaphile.com. Look under information and then boa breeding article. Also riobravoreptiles.com has a good breeding info section that mainly deals with locality boas.
Males and females should have good enough mass to where they won’t need to eat for months. typically breeding animals are not fed. And typicallyfemales are still not fed (or won’t eat) while gravid so your female needs to have good mass to last her through 4 to 8 months with no food and still develop babys.
