Baby snake care I came home yesterday (4/17/08) to find 18 baby snakes. I removed them from the mother’s cage (she didn’t like that at all) and they are set up with water and heat in a 10 gal aquarium for now. I’m not sure what to do from here - any help would be appreciated. What I am wondering in particular is when to start offering food. If anybody knows a link to a site with detailed care info for baby snakes - please share. I have found tons of info on breeding, but no info on what to do after that.
Thanks in advance for any help

Baby snake care
1st thing.. if they are not all in separate enclosures... you definitely want to do so... b/c that is how you tell when you can feed them. I would go to a dollar store and buy those $1 plastic shoe box size enclosures... melt air holes in the lid...set them up with newspaper or papertowel substrate.hide... water dish. Several days after birth.. your neonates will shed their first skin. At that time you can offer them their first meal of a pinkie or a fuzzy. Be patient with difficult feeders.. they have enough stored energy from their absorbed yolks. For the mother... offer her small meals at first...especially if she has not eaten at all while she was gravid. Hope this helps

Baby snake care Put them in seperate containers as she said. But please do please keep moisture heavy by useing wet paper towels till they shed. Thats a key issue. You wont need to feed them till they do shed.
