 RED TAIL BOA

Ive been reading a lot, and many people here have helped. I still have a lot to learn. The gist of what Ive read says that they need to be at least three years to be optimal weight. Boas generally don’t eat for 3-4 months while they are gravid, so its best to go into breeding with a well fed female. The male, ideally should be smaller, but not TOO much smaller or you risk injury to him.

Generally you want to introduce them about this time of year. And Ive also read varying reports, some folks lower temps slighly in the tanks for a month or two before introducing the male to the females. Make sure you read several sites before you play matchmaker. There are a number of good articles posted on links in other posts here. It has all the temps and what to expect/look for etc.

Also know the snake you mate to yours for a while before you breed. Last thing you want is some sort of parasite or terminal illness being transfered.

Good Luck!
