That I am not shure of but there are alot of pics of boas locked up and I doubt someone took all these pics in the dead of night so I would imagine any time of the day. What are you breeding?

Males should always be smaller than the females they’re breeding, or they can end up damaging the female.

Males do not always have to be smaller than females, its just typically a better ideal to use smaller males than your females.

Many people breed in their fall/winter time months, we start cooling the boas in december, and the animals will breed through our cooling months and into the months afterwards, its a good idea to have them together for a few days and separate them for a few, it typically helps renew a males interest if he is wanting to breed the female by doing such.

Yours very well could be attempting at courting the female from the pic, but a tail locking is a much better evidence of breeding.

When do red tail boas breed

Our boas seem to breed at any point in the year, most breeding is clustered around early spring or mid to late summer. During summer months as the AC cranks up, it makes it easier to cycle down the boas for the NTL’s so breeding is normally achieved then. If they are of good weight and kept seperated for extended periods of time just putting them together can elicit courting from the male. Which may lead to copulations that are fertile. Boas are a hit or miss throughout the year. Introduce your pair at least one week per month , if your female is developing follicles... that male will be VERY interested !
