 BRB lighting/heat?

Well I got a baby BRB today and couldnt be happier. He was born on friday the 13th!! (10/13/06) Well anyway I set up the cage and was using a 60 watt red bulb. The temps got really close to 90 so i took the light off. Since that I have had a towel on top of the cage and the temps and humidity have leveled out well. The humidity has been between 80 and 85 all day but the temp has been about 76 (day) and currently (night) it is 73. Are these temps ok or should i maybe use an undertank heater? Is a red light necessary or any light for that matter? Would I be fine without either if temps and humidity stay pretty close to what they are? Thank you very much

I just use undertank heaters with no lights. it’s been working for me so far. i find the light makes it hard for the humidity to stay. you should post some pictures of your baby! It’s been pretty quiet on the forum lately. everyone always enjoys a new pic. lol

mine stays at 85 right by the uth, and the cooler side is 82. it’s very hot in my apartment, and i tried using lights at first, but my tanks got way too hot, so i had to stop using them. the snakes are doing fine under these temperatures. my humidity is around 70-80% depending on whose tank it is.

try using a stand for the light and move the bulb higher until you get the right temp, aim it at your hot side and that should work.
