 What should I be looking for...

When buying a BRB, i wanted to go buy one from the local pet store and I dont know what to be looking for in terms of color and pattern

It all depends on what YOU like. Some are more "dingy", some are more clean looking. There’s the high-red ones, high-orange ones, high-white ones, even some breeders are working with the crescents. I like the high-contrasting ones the best.

I say health over color. I dont really suggest buying from a pet shop though. A baby rainbow tend to grow up looking different. Most grow up looking like the parent so if you buy it from a breeder, you can see how your snake might grow up looking like.

I agree, you should buy from a breeder.

Choose the snake you like looks-wise, then check him over to make sure he is of at least OK health.

When looking for a healthy snake, make sure there is no odd discoloration of the mouth, no stuck shed, especially the eye caps. Make sure there is no discharge coming from the mouth or nose. Clean belly, no chipped scales, abnormal brown spots, etc. No sounds coming from the snake. And what I have learned... If they bite, chances are that’s the one to get! LOL (jk)

If it bites you, its alert and acting normal hehe. MOST of the snakes I have now has bitten me when I got em.....sad I know but they all turn out great.
