 Double checking temps

so my house gets about 72 at night, no lower, i used a prob thermometer to mesure temp of damp mulch and it was about 72 also. i have an under tank heater and her hide is not ontop of the under tank heater but one inch away so its not hot but stays warm. thats about 80 degrees, when i lift up the hide she is always on the warm side of the hide rather then balled up away from the heat.

she ate a hopper yesterday, in 3 days i will upgrade her from her 10 gallon to her 20 gal long so i have room to put a large enough water bowl in. since i am buying a storage bin for my crickets

does this sound about right so far?

the coconut husk mulch/forest floor substrate is very damp and i can see moisture on the glass tank near the uth. so i know humidity is up, though i will be buying a guage for her enclosure today

Sounds good,i keep mine at about a 75-85 gradient,i think i remember you saying you know that much higher than 85 can be dangerous for these snakes.I have had my temp spike on hot days with no problems, still something to avoid though.

When mine was young i kept the humidity at 80-90%,now i can let it go down as low as 60%.They say higher but She’s always had good sheds and no respiratory problems.I would like it higher though.I have her in a 6 foot cage now but i plan on building something a little bigger when the new herp room is completed,so i can have more vertical space. That way i can add more features to the cage and hopefully get it to around 65-70%.

Just make sure the substrate is not wet, damp is fine. They are pretty resistant to problems from moisture.

Jason.

i upgraded from a 10 gallon long to the 40 quart tub with ALOT of holes in it. i have a probe thermometer that reads 84 directly above UTH, yes i am using an under tank heater on a plastic storage tub, its an old one that is not very strong and isnt in direct contact but the tub is set ontop of it.

i was very carefull as to not stress her out, gave her 10 min to calm down after i removed her hide from 10 gal. and put her into the new tub.
the substrate is soaked right now only because i had to soak it to compact it. it’ll take a few days to dry out and then i’lll continue misting :)
i also got her a nice square dish for water.
